5-Axis & 4-Axis
CNC Machining
Yes. Floe Thermoforming runs 5-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centers that machine components and value-add features to print, referenced to fixture datums for repeatable accuracy, on the same floor that forms the part. Formed parts themselves are trimmed in robotic cells, so both trimming and machining stay in-house and large parts never ship out for secondary work.
CNC Machining, explained
Complex large-format geometry has to be machined to print. Floe Thermoforming's 5-axis and 4-axis CNC centers reference the formed part to fixture datums, holding repeatable hole and feature position that hand routing can't match. The formed parts themselves are trimmed in robotic cells.
Machining on the same floor as forming means the machining program and the tool are developed together, and a large part never ships out for secondary machining.
Choosing the right process
CNC machining in-house is how large heavy-gauge parts hold dimension to print.

Questions OEM engineers ask
Does Floe Thermoforming have 5-axis CNC machining?
Yes, 5-axis and 4-axis CNC machining centers run in-house, on the same floor that forms the part.
What does CNC machining do for a thermoformed program?
It machines features, holes, and value-add components to print, referenced to fixture datums for repeatable accuracy. The formed part's perimeter and openings are trimmed in robotic cells.
How do you hold accuracy on large parts?
By referencing the work to fixture datums on 5-axis CNC, holding repeatable feature and hole position across large-format geometry.
Is machining part of the same program?
Yes, trimming and machining are developed alongside forming and tooling, under one program manager.
